Ingredients Matter – Why some products work better than others?

27 October, 2016

When considering which products to use for which season, it is important to understand what each product is and how it works. With winter approaching you may find that your feet change from the summer. You may be asking yourself at this time “why do some products work better than others?” This relates to the ingredients in various products as well as knowing what you need for your feet.

For example, you may find the skin on your heels is much drier. In this case, you need a product containing moisturizing ingredients.

If you are wearing closed toed shoes, boots or sports footwear regularly, you may find your feet become more moisture than in the summer and have an unpleasant odour. In this case, you would need a product to keep the skin dry and also address the issue of Athlete’s Foot.

When looking at Footlogix® products, it’s not only ingredients you should look at, but also the effects of the combination of ingredients, formulations and technology.

Let’s start with the technology of Footlogix. There is no point in having high quality ingredients if they sit on top of the skin masking possible issues rather than penetrating into the skin targeting those issues. Footlogix penetrates and targets those issues with Dermal Infusion Technology.

How does Footlogix Dermal Infusion Technology® work?

DERMAL INFUSION TECHNOLOGY

Dermal Infusion Technology is a patented two-phase technology that combines a clinically-developed balance of water and natural lipids into a complex mousse formulation to assist in the water retention function of skin. It not only aids in the delivery of highly active, premium quality ingredients into all layers of the epidermis; it also assists in forming a breathable, semi-permeable barrier on the skin’s most outer surface. With this exclusive liposomal technology, it gives the products the ability to repair the epidermis and keeps it functioning naturally. It also allows the skin to be protected against irritants as well as other invaders that compromise healthy skin. The skin now has less Trans Epidermal Water Loss (TEWL) allowing it to stay naturally hydrated and healthy.

Some of the active, high quality ingredients found in Footlogix formulas are:

UREA

Urea is one of the key ingredients in the majority of Footlogix products and an important component of the body’s Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF). A true humectant and a hygroscopic compound, urea has the ability to attract and retain moisture in the skin (something that most people lack, especially as we mature). Urea “unpacks” hard dry skin cells and with water binding properties, keeps the skin soft and supple; one of the reasons why the results of a single Footlogix pedicure last for weeks.

Urea is a key ingredient in both professional Footlogix products and our signature “mousses”.

CLOTRIMAZOLE

According to the FDA monograph, Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent having both “fungistatic” (inhibiting growth of fungus) and “fungicidal” (causing death of the fungus) properties. It is effective against Candida albicans and dermatophytes. It acts primarily by damaging the permeability barrier in the cell membrane of the fungus, thus leading to death of the fungus. Its action on the skin is both quick and effective. On the nail, continuous application until the nail has grown out, not only kills existing fungi, but also inhibits further growth of fungi while the nail grows.

Clotrimazole has proven effective against tinea pedis (athlete’s foot) and trichophyton organisms that cause onychomycosis (toenail fungus).

It is present in Footlogix Peeling Skin Formula, Rough Skin Formula and Anti-Fungal Nail Tincture.

UBIQUINONE

a.k.a. coenzyme Q10 is a potent antioxidant compound that helps to protect cells against aging and damage. Ubiquinone is vital for cellular energy production and skin anti-aging. Along with Urea and with the action of DIT, it is able to penetrate into the epidermis of the skin.

SPIRALEEN®

Spiraleen™ is a revolutionary fusion of science and nature and is the world’s first of its kind. This bio active algae extract goes through a patented “stressing extrusion process”. This elevates the natural Spirulina micro algae to a very high potency, resulting in Spiraleen™. Going through this process this ingredient becomes anti-microbial, not disrupting the skins natural flora and enhancing the skins function of protection. Inhibiting harmful germs with its highly efficacious anti-fungal, anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties, it delivers optimal levels of cell protection, promoting cell regeneration and collagen synthesis. Spiraleen™ has made a breakthrough in the skin and nail care industry.

It is present in all Footlogix Anti-Microbial Solution products and DD Mousse.

ALOE BARBADENSIS

aka Aloe is well-known for its wound-healing properties. In Footlogix products, it helps soothe and calm dry, sensitive skin while reducing flaking and restoring suppleness.

TOCOPHERYL ACETATE

aka Vitamin E, is a well-known antioxidant and natural skin-conditioning agent. It is a skin strengthener and soothing agent as it seals in moisture, helping to soften and hydrate the skin.

SUNFLOWER SEED OIL

Sunflower seed oil is rich in linoleic acid that has excellent transcutaneous absorption. It thus helps maintain the skin barrier and decreases trans-epidermal water loss.

No matter what the condition of the skin on your feet, we have a solution for you.

If you are looking at the Footlogix specialty products, the key ingredients are avocado oil, panthenol, rosemary, sage and many more. Each one of these works in a different way to help alleviate specific conditions.

Our ingredients are listed on all the labels. We have highlighted these specific ingredients to help in understanding what each product does and why it works.
